Recruitment for: Student Technical Assistant

Part time Seasonal Contract (no health benefits or leave)

Contract dates: June 24, 2009 – August 19, 2009 (actual beginning and end work dates are negotiable)

Salary: $8.70 to $11.25/hr

Location: Maryland Geological Survey, Baltimore, MD

No Health Benefits or Leave provided 40 hours/week not to exceed 320 hours

Position Duties –

The Maryland Geological Survey has a contractual position available in the Hydrogeology Program this summer to assist in an evaluation of the groundwater resources of the Maryland Coastal Plain.
Primary duties will involve assisting MGS geologists during drilling of a continuous corehole in Cecil County. Duties will include but are not limited to: handling, preparation, and documentation of core materials; conducting wellsite tasks; compiling and entering hydrogeologic and other data; inventorying wells; and collecting field data. The position is based in the Baltimore office, but will involve in-state travel.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be a student at an accredited college or university. Preference will be given to undergraduate or graduate students in geology or related environmental science.
