The R/V Kerhin

Coastal and Estuarine Geology scientists utilize the Department of Natural Resources research vessel R/V Kerhin for mapping and evaluating the geological features of the Chesapeake Bay and the inner continental shelf off Ocean City. The R/V Kerhin is utilized in a variety of studies including precision bathymetric surveys related to dredged sediment placement, acoustic sub-bottom, and side-scan profiling, sediment classification and collection, coring operations, and measurements of sediment resuspension and erosion resulting from tidal flows.

More information on the R/V Kerhin may be found at; http://www.dnr.state.md.us/bay/monitoring/kerhin/kerhin.html
